Biography and Artist Statement
BIOGRAPHY
Heather Graham grew up on the beautiful orchard homestead of her great-grandfather in Provo, Utah. She was close to her extended family and her uncle's farm complete with horses, cows, sheep, chickens, and occasionally some peacocks.
She owes the beginning of her artistic awareness to her mother would often comment about how beautiful the world is that God created for us. This opened her eyes to the wonders and loveliness of the world.
Heather has a B.F.A. in Illustration from Brigham Young University. As a student, she had the opportunity to work at BYU Broadcasting where she helped design a monthly magazine and created printed ads for BYU-TV and Classical 89.1 radio. After graduation, Heather worked in advertising and also as a freelance artist.
Starting in 2015 Heather took two and a half years of classical art training from the Beaux-Arts Academy taught by painters Joseph Brickey, N.J. Covington, sculptor James Sundow, and historians Michael Djordjevitch, and Dr. Micah Christiansen.
She has had the opportunity to take classes and workshops from many artists she admires including: Ryan Brown, Kathleen Dumphy, Josh Clare, Dan Wilson, Michael Malm, Paul Batch, Andrew Payne, and Howard Lyon.
Later on in her career, she studied under J. Kirk Richards at the beginning of the J.K.R. academy where she feels that all of her previous training pulled together into a cohesive whole and her fine art career accelerated. During this program and under Kirk's mentorship she also became the Art Director of Peteetneet Gallery and Musem in Payson, Utah, and the President of the Payson Arts Council.
She has won awards for her landscape painting from the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and the Institute of Classical Arts and Architecture.
Heather and her husband started the fine art framing business Masterworks Frames and apprenticed under master framer, Rett Ashby while sharing a shop together for several years in Orem, Utah. She enjoys working with her husband and discussing and designing frames together.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I am inspired by the gift and miracle of life and the incredible beauty found in nature. Painting is a way for me to study the natural world in an effort to express the loveliness I see. I feel that there is poetry found in the flight of birds, the dancing movements of a river, light streaming through clouds, and shimmering sunlit trees in a field—all are subjects for exploration and joy. I feel that visual art is also like music in many ways and try to compose what I experience with rhythm, staccatos, crescendos, soft passages, and atmosphere. I am truly grateful for this beautiful world that God created.
